Artifact 2: Literary Genres

I created this movie clip as an introduction to a lesson plan based on literary genres in my Technology for Educators' class at Dixie State College during summer semester 2009. This artifact provides evidence of Effective Pedagogy (DM2) because it demonstrates how my knowledge and skills in curriculum design, instruction, and technology can produce student learning. Using this movie as an introduction to literary genres demonstrates that I can create effective and meaningful lessons that are aligned with the subject matter and common core that is required by the state of Utah. For example, students will learn the origins and development of a literary genre; investigate how shared imaginative concerns link the members of a literary period; examine the evolution of literary tradition; and compare works of literature from different eras. These areas of learning tie to the Fifth Grade Common Core, Standard 7, Objective 3B: Compare and contrast elements of of different literary genres. I believe that this is a strong artifact that demonstrates my ability to create effective and meaningful instruction for all my students.
